On May 29, 2024, Helaxa celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of its new heparin factory in Luckenwalde near Berlin.

With the regional production of the life-saving active ingredient heparin, Helaxa strengthens supply security in Europe. The symbolic groundbreaking ceremony on this day marked the beginning of construction of a state-of-the-art heparin factory in Luckenwalde, near Berlin.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), heparin is one of the most important life-saving active ingredients. As an anticoagulant, it is used for the prevention of blood clots and the treatment of numerous chronic cardiovascular diseases. Local production reduces dependence on foreign sources, particularly overseas, strengthens supply chains, and enhances supply security.

"The groundbreaking ceremony for the new heparin factory is a significant moment for all of us," says Erol Thomas Isim, Co-founder and General Manager of Helaxa. "We are proud to contribute to the health and safety of the European population and to strengthen regional drug production through large manufacturing capacities. This investment will not only create jobs but also make life-saving medications more accessible to patients in Europe."
